Use Create Coupon to launch a new promotional discount you can apply to Businesses on their Billing page. Coupons are a fast way to close deals, run seasonal campaigns, or reward specific customers.
How to create a coupon
Open the Coupons module from the sidebar and click + Create Coupon in the top right.
Fill in the fields in the side panel:
Coupon Name — A friendly internal label (max 25 characters), e.g. Spring 2025 Promo.
Coupon Code — The code your team or the Business will enter on the Billing page. Type it manually or click Get code to auto-generate one.
Coupon Type — Choose Generic (any Business can use it) or Business (locked to a single Business you select). This cannot be changed after creation.
Discount — The amount of the discount.
Type — Select % off (percentage) or Flat (fixed dollar amount).
Total amount — The maximum total discount amount this coupon can provide across all billing cycles. Once this cap is reached, the coupon stops applying discounts. (Only applicable when type is selected as Percentage)
Apply By Date — The window during which this coupon can be applied to a Business. After this date the coupon can no longer be added to a new package.
Validity Period — How many months the discount stays active on a Business after it's applied.
Click Create. The coupon appears in the Coupons list with status Active.
How recurring-billing coupon caps work
When you create a percentage coupon with a Total amount cap, the discount is applied on every eligible billing cycle until the cap is exhausted:
The coupon applies the defined discount percentage on every billing cycle.
Each cycle’s actual discount is deducted from the remaining discount pool.
If the calculated discount exceeds the remaining pool, only the remaining amount is applied.
Once the pool reaches $0, the coupon stops providing discounts and the Business pays the full bill.
Example: A 50% off coupon with a $400 total cap can provide discounts across multiple months. If the first cycle discount is $200, $200 remains for future cycles. When the remaining pool is smaller than the next cycle’s calculated discount, only that remaining amount is discounted, and the coupon is then fully consumed.
Generic vs Business coupons
Generic — Reusable across all Businesses in your Agency. Best for broad campaigns (e.g. SPRING2024, WINTER2024).
Business — Tied to one specific Business at creation time. Best for negotiated, one-off deals (e.g. KICK2025 exclusive to a business).
Important: Once you create a coupon as Generic or Business, the type is locked. To switch types you must archive the coupon and create a new one.
Stripe sync
If you're a Kickcall Stripe user, every coupon you create here is automatically synced to your connected Stripe account, so the same discount is honored on Stripe-processed invoices and subscriptions — no duplicate setup required.
